The Australia India Multicultural Awards (AIMA) is a premier multicultural recognition platform established in Australia to celebrate outstanding individuals, organisations, artists, entrepreneurs, volunteers, and community leaders who contribute meaningfully to society.
Originally founded as Australia India Music Awards, AIMA began as a platform to recognise artistic talent within the Indian-Australian community. Over time, its vision expanded—embracing the richness of multicultural Australia and recognising excellence across diverse fields including arts, leadership, business, education, innovation, volunteering, social impact, and cultural contribution.
Today, AIMA stands as a symbol of unity in diversity, bringing communities together through recognition, celebration, and shared purpose.
To become Australia’s most respected multicultural awards platform—recognising achievement, promoting inclusion, and inspiring future generations to contribute positively to society.
At AIMA, our mission is to:
Recognise excellence across multicultural communities in Australia
Celebrate leadership, service, talent, and innovation
Create opportunities for emerging voices and future leaders
Promote cultural harmony and inclusion
Build meaningful bridges between communities, industries, and generations
Encourage volunteering, community service, and social responsibility
Australia is one of the world’s most vibrant multicultural nations. Across every community are individuals making extraordinary contributions—often quietly, without recognition.
AIMA was created to shine a light on these stories.
We believe recognition inspires excellence.
We believe diversity strengthens communities.
We believe every contribution matters.
Through our awards, events, partnerships, and community initiatives, AIMA creates a platform where achievements are celebrated and stories of impact are shared.
AIMA is more than an awards event—it is a community movement.
We proudly:

AIMA – Recognising Excellence Across Cultures.
The visionary behind Australia India Multicultural Awards (AIMA) is Prabhakar Agraja, a respected multicultural leader, entrepreneur, educator, and passionate community advocate based in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Agraja founded AIMA with a simple yet powerful purpose: to recognise talent, celebrate community contribution, and create a platform that inspires people to shine.
Originally established as Australia India Music Awards, AIMA became the first organisation in Australia dedicated to recognising and promoting the passion, talent, and creativity of Indian-origin artists and performers in Australia. Today, under his leadership, AIMA has evolved into Australia India Multicultural Awards, broadening its vision to celebrate excellence across Australia’s multicultural communities.
Beyond AIMA, Mr. Agraja has built an impressive professional and community legacy.
as of 2026, for more than 24 years, he has been a respected business coach and leader in Australia’s education sector, mentoring over 10,000 individuals and helping more than 250 Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) build entrepreneurial capability and sustainable business success.
A committed multicultural advocate in Victoria, he has also received multiple recognitions for his contributions toward community leadership, inclusion, and multicultural engagement.
Born in Tirupati, India, Mr. Agraja is a self-made individual whose journey reflects resilience, service, and passion. A multilingual singer, performer, and arts enthusiast, he was twice recognised as a finalist in “Telugu Voice of Australia”, and has also contributed to the Telugu film industry as an actor.
At the heart of his work is his guiding philosophy:
“Serving Humanity is Serving God”
“Maanava Sevey Maadhava Seva”
“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The world is one family)
These values continue to shape AIMA’s purpose, vision, and community impact.
AIMA’s journey began during the global COVID-19 pandemic—a period of uncertainty, isolation, and emotional stress for communities worldwide.
In April 2020, as a voluntary community wellbeing initiative, Mr. Prabhakar Agraja launched “Covid Geethmala”, an online musical platform created to spread positivity, encourage people to stay safe at home, and provide comfort through music. The initiative invited local and international Indian singing talent to perform online, creating a vibrant virtual space where listeners could relax, connect, and find relief during lockdowns. The core message was simple: Stay Home. Stay Safe. Stay Connected Through Music.
As the initiative gained momentum and community support, it evolved into a larger movement. In December 2020, the platform was officially rebranded as: AIMA – Australia India Music Awards With support from EduCATER, special recognitions such as “Best Performer of the Day” certificates were introduced, encouraging performers and celebrating artistic achievement. What began as a volunteer-driven online music initiative soon became a recognised cultural platform—bringing communities together through talent, positivity, and purpose.
During April 2026, that same spirit continues through AIMA’s broader multicultural mission named as " Australia India Multicultural Awards"
AIMA’s flagship events are proudly hosted in Melbourne, one of Australia’s most vibrant multicultural cities.
Melbourne remains the home of AIMA’s major celebrations, award nights, and cultural showcases.
As AIMA grows, we are actively seeking community organisations, event partners, sponsors, and cultural leaders across Australia to help expand AIMA nationally.
Our vision is to create a platform that recognises talent and contribution across arts, leadership, volunteering, innovation, and multicultural excellence—not only in Melbourne, but across every Australian state and territory.
AIMA is growing from a local initiative into a national multicultural movement.
AIMA hosts its major annual award celebrations twice each year, typically during:
📍 April
📍 August
These signature events honour outstanding individuals, performers, professionals, volunteers, and leaders making a positive impact in multicultural Australia.
In addition to the major award nights, AIMA’s long-term vision includes:
✔ Bi-monthly community events
✔ Talent showcases
✔ Music and performing arts programs
✔ Leadership recognition forums
✔ Volunteering and social impact awards
✔ Youth engagement initiatives
✔ Cultural networking events
Through regular programs and celebrations, AIMA aims to create ongoing opportunities for recognition, inspiration, and community connection—not just once a year, but throughout the year.
